Mr Richard Charles

Richard is the Principal of VicSolutions Allied Health. He is a registered social worker and a member of the Australian Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapists with experience in community, corporate and private sectors.

Richard is a compassionate therapist who works with, and adapts to, the differing needs of his clients.

BA (hons) Social Work, Post Grad Dip Behavioural Science (Psychology), Grad Dip Management

 

Experience

Richard has worked across a number of community and private sector settings spanning over 25 years. Commencing his career as a social worker working with ‘at risk’ young people in Manchester, United Kingdom, Richard progressed to working with adults within the criminal justice and mental health sectors. He has experience of treating young people and adults for various issues and also has worked with high risk offenders in the community and prisons. While working for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) he became part of the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team and supported employees post exposure to a stressful incident.

 

Current Activity

Richard currently undertakes a number of roles within his private practice which include: working with the complex behaviours of young people and adults diagnosed with mental health issues, substance use issues and behavioural issues. He works with many organisations across Australia providing Employment Assistance Programs (EAP), enhancing the work-life balance of employees and providing onsite counselling to address various issues that impact on their personal and professional well-being. He also provides Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) for organisations impacted by critical incidents.
